The Office for IT and eGovernment has been shortlisted for the prestigious award for the contribution to the development of the information society, which is being awarded for the seventh year in a row by the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). The Summit and the Awards Ceremony were jointly organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD.

The Office for IT and eGovernment found its place among the top 90, in a fierce competition against a total of 685 registered and 492 projects nominated by government institutions, companies and civil society organizations from around the world. The Office was nominated in the category of creating a good environment for the development of the information society and is currently in the fifth place according to the number of votes, out of a total of million votes submitted online.
Representatives of the Office for IT and eGovernment will attend the awards ceremony at the WSIS Forum, which will be held in Geneva on March 20. The expert jury will then announce the winners who have, in an innovative way and using new technologies, improved their environment and made significant progress towards achieving the global goals of the United Nations in the sphere of the information society.
This year, the WSIS Forum will bring together 85 ministers and more than 200 representatives of governments, NGOs, directors of ICT companies, educational institutions and individuals, as announced by the organization.
The Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment will meet with Houlin Zhao, The Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the highest body of the United Nations specialized in information and communication technologies, and will present him with an official invitation of the Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic, to visit Serbia.
