Ministerial Conference “Connect Safely”

As a participant, the Director of the Office presented the competencies, projects and activities of the Office for IT and eGovernment, as well as the current project “Strengthening the capacities of local self-governments in the application of regulations in the field of personal data protection and information security”, implemented in cooperation with the Office of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED), as well as companies from NALED’s E-Government Alliance.

The Director of the Office presented the results obtained from the analysis of the survey on the recorded state of ICT resources in the bodies of local self-government units, as a significant part of the project's activities, after which the plan was to implement the procedures for security checks of information systems of the local self-government units.

Mihailo Jovanovic, PhD ultimately addressed the future planned activities of the project and stressed that: “After the received security inspection reports, the Office will define the priorities of support in the area of ​​information security of local governments which include raising awareness, planning of thematic trainings and support of investment in local infrastructure, as well as priorities of the Office itself that relate to the planning of resources and capacities of the State Data Center”.

The conference, held on 20^th and 21^st of September 2018, aims to establish political dialogue in the region on the growing threats to cyberspace, promote international and regional cooperation, as well as cooperation with the private sector in order to increase the level of information security and to encourage the fight against high-tech crime.

The participants in the conference will be ministers and high representatives of the ministries of interior of the countries in the region, as well as representatives of international organizations, institutions of the Republic of Serbia, academic and private sector, and experts in the field of high-tech crime and information security.
