As of today eEnrollment is enabled in secondary schools in Serbia

As of July 8, the eEnrollment information system has been providing access to the Main Civil Register ex officio, as well as informatization of jobs in all secondary schools in Serbia and as a result, employees of schools can allocate children to the newly formed classes accordingly.

Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Branko Ružić, pointed out that an important and major work was completed by transcribing the registers in electronic form. “Citizens can now use certificates from the main register for personal purposes only, and not as “another paper” necessary for dealing with the administration. As of next year, we will import all the databases that the state has in electronic form so far, of which there are currently 13, and thus show citizens that the administration is there to make life easier, not more difficult”, Ružić said.

The eEnrollment information system, which was implemented in the education system for the first time this year, relieved parents and students of their obligation to submit birth certificates and a certificates of residence when enrolling in the first grade of primary schools, as well as students of 31 faculties of the University of Belgrade to submit birth certificates, and instead, employees of schools and faculties were able to access this information ex officio, which shows that public administration is in the service of citizens.

Director of the Office, Mihailo Jovanović (Associate Professor, PhD) pointed out that, due to the fact that eEnrollment was linked to the civil register and residence records, for the first time parents did not have to obtain more than 120,000 different paper documents when enrolling their children in the first grade of primary schools, which saved them as many hours of waiting at some of the public administration counters, while about 12,000-13,000 freshmen also did not have to submit as many birth certificates.

Provision of the eEnrollment service enables complete IT monitoring of the enrollment procedure by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and represents the beginning of implementation of a new and comprehensive unified information system for education.

The Office for IT and eGovernment has provided qualified electronic certificates for employees of all primary and secondary schools, as well as faculties of the University of Belgrade, for access to the eEnrollment information system, appropriate training and guidance, as well as support for the use of the system provided by the Contact Centre for Support to Public Administration.

It is pointed out that over the next two years, work will be done to create a unified information system for education, which will allow all data on children throughout their entire education, from preschool, primary and secondary schools, faculty and then employment, to be in one place.

As a result of the experience and skill of the entire team of the Government of Serbia working on public administration reform and digitalization, the needs of citizens have been recognized and with this new system of work, public administration has been transformed into a service, thanks to which citizens are less and less required to be couriers carrying their documents from one counter to the next.
