New IT Projects Presented at the Office for IT and eGovernment: Secondary State Data Centre and Driving Licences Online

Speaking about the beginning of the construction of the secondary State Data Centre in Kragujevac, Jovanović pointed out that it is a capital infrastructure project of eGovernment, which involves the construction of a large data storage centre that will be five times larger than the existing one in Belgrade. The centre, he says, will also have enough space for commercial users as well, so Jovanović expects it to house equipment of the largest global IT companies.

In addition to this project, Jovanović also announced five new projects, the implementation of which will begin in June and July this year.

 “The next project is the action of installing POS terminals at the counters of local self-government units, which we will promote together with NALED in terms of competition between local self-governments in providing cashless payment”, said Jovanović.

The third project, he says, is the inclusion of 32 new inspections in the eInspector project.

 “By the end of June, we are introducing 32 new inspections into this system”, which will make a total of 36 inspections using one information system, and the plan is, he adds, for seven more inspections to be introduced into this large information system.

Speaking about the informatization of the work of inspectors in Serbia, Jovanović also said that 1,000 inspectors will receive new laptops, qualified electronic certificates and wireless internet in the coming period.

When it comes to eEnrollment, it is already ensured that parents of first graders do not have to carry birth certificates and certificates of residence when enrolling their children in schools.

Jovanović announces that in July, when the enrollment into secondary schools is completed, the same service will be provided for secondary school students as well as for students enrolling in the faculties of the University of Belgrade.

Also, action is underway for the formation of two new services in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior - delivery of Driving Licenses to the home address and ordering Certificates of (No) Criminal Conviction through the eGovernment Portal. Starting July 1, citizens will be able to order new Driving Licenses through the eGovernment Portal, which will then be sent to their home address.

Another project in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior is ordering Certificates of (No) Criminal Conviction through the eGovernment Portal, of which about 1,7 million are issued annually in our country. It will be possible to order the Certificate through the eGovernment Portal and for citizens to collect it at the local police station, which, as he points out, significantly saves citizens' time and money.

He also reminded of the projects that were implemented in the previous period, such as “Baby, welcome to the world”, “eKindergarten”, and launching of the Open Data Portal.

He states that more than 1,000 services are available to citizens on the eGovernment Portal and that this portal captures one million registered users.
