Serbia to use Luxembourg’s experiences in building state data centre

"The Data Center in Luxembourg, which is used for the needs of this country, but also for the needs of other companies, even other governments, as is the case with the Government of Estonia, is a good example for the Office of IT and eGovernment to follow when building a secondary State Data Center in Kragujevac. Our future Data Center will be prestigious in Southeast Europe in terms of capacities, technical and security standards. We also expect a great interest of notable global investors and global IT companies in using the capacities of our Data Center and therefore the realization of serious IT industry investments", Jovanovic pointed out.

"On October 26, 2018, at the 20th regular session in the field of urban planning, the members of the Assembly of the City of Kragujevac adopted the Detailed Regulation Plan "Small Grains Research Institute – Working Zone FENIX", on whose parcel of land the secondary State Data Center will be built. We are situated in a geographical center of Serbia and on a different tectonic plate than Belgrade, which makes Kragujevac ideal for storing copies of the state administration and local self-government data", said Danilo Savić, a member of the City Council of Kragujevac.

"For this investment of special importance, the state - having global standards in mind - requested from us a location that meets strict security and technical standards criteria. The city administration has shown great willingness to respond efficiently to the demands of the state and prepare appropriate planning documents in record time, and the city of Kragujevac and its citizens can be proud that the IT facility of national importance will be located right in the heart of Sumadija", Jovanovic added.
